Our editorial approach
A closer look, with care.
The Sidekick Journal is published by Gettysburg Sidekick, the local guide being developed for Gettysburg and Adams County stays.
Who writes these stories
Articles credited to Gettysburg Sidekick are published under the organization’s byline. Individual contributors are named on their stories when applicable. Field Notes offer shorter observations and practical starting points; longer articles make room for a fuller account.
Sources and review
Each published story carries its supporting sources. Historical claims receive historical verification; current visitor details receive freshness checks. The depth of review follows the subject. A maker profile and a battlefield history do not require the same production process.
Publication and update dates describe the story. “Last checked” describes its reviewed information. Hours, access, class availability and seasonal conditions can change, so follow the official visitor links before making plans.
Images and illustrations
Documentary photographs include credits and captions. Decorative Sidekick illustrations provide a visual theme and do not depict a named venue. Regional photographs are identified as context when they are not photographs of the place discussed.
Corrections
Use “Suggest a correction” beneath any story to send the article and your suggested change to the editorial team. Include a supporting source if you have one. Suggestions are reviewed before changes appear in a published edition.
